Myosin Light Chain 7, Regulatory (MYL7)
Myosin regulatory light chain 2, atrial isoform is a protein encoded by the MYL7 gene. The gene contains 16 different gt-ag introns. Transcription produces 16 different mRNAs, 15 alternatively spliced variants and 1 unspliced form. There are 2 probable alternative promotors, 3 non overlapping alternative last exons and 7 validated alternative polyadenylation sites (see the diagram). The mRNAs appear to differ by truncation of the 3' end, presence or absence of 7 cassette exons, overlapping exons with different boundaries, alternative splicing or retention of 7 introns. The 15 spliced and the unspliced mRNAs putatively encode good proteins, altogether 16 different isoforms (4 complete, 8 COOH complete, 4 partial), some containing Calcium-binding EF-hand domain [Pfam], a prenylation domain
