Nucleoporin 107kDa (NUP107)

NUP84; Nuclear pore complex protein Nup107

Nucleoporin 107kDa (NUP107)

Nuclear pore complex protein Nup107 is localized to the nuclear rim and is an essential component of the nuclear pore complex (NPC). All molecules entering or leaving the nucleus either diffuse through or are actively transported by the NPC. Alternate transcriptional splice variants of this gene have been observed but have not been thoroughly characterized.

NUP107 is a component of the nuclear pore complex, which mediates nucleocytoplasmic transport. Nuclear pore complexes are the largest protein assemblies in eukaryotic cells. In vertebrates, the nuclear pore complex has an estimated molecular mass of 125 MD.The International Radiation Hybrid Mapping Consortium mapped the NUP107 gene to chromosome 12.
