Parvin Beta (PARVb)
Members of the parvin family, including PARVB, are actin-binding proteins associated with focal contacts. The N terminus of PARVB has a low-complexity proline/serine-rich motif similar to those found in structural proteins. Northern blot analysis detected transcripts of 1.8, 2.2, and 6.0 kb, with the shorter transcripts predominating. Expression was highest in skeletal muscle, weaker in heart, and very low in kidney, liver, small intestine, placenta, and spleen. RNA dot blot analysis detected high expression in skeletal muscle and weaker expression in heart. In contrast, Northern blot analysis of mouse tissues detected highest expression of 1.8- and 3.2-kb transcripts in heart, with moderate expression in spleen, lung, and skeletal muscle; the longer message predominated.
