Pregnancy Up Regulated Non Ubiquitously Expressed CaM Kinase (PNCK)

CaMK1b; Pregnancy Upregulated Non-Ubiquitously Expressed CaM Kinase; Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type 1B

Pregnancy Up Regulated Non Ubiquitously Expressed CaM Kinase (PNCK)
PNCK is a member of the calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase family of protein serine/threonine kinases. The deduced 343-amino acid mouse has a calculated molecular mass of 38.6 kD, which was confirmed by SDS-PAGE. Pnck contains an N-terminal segment, a conserved serine/threonine kinase catalytic domain, a regulatory domain, and a unique C-terminal segment and is most similar to Camk1. Pnck expression in early embryogenesis, increasing during midgestation with highest expression in developing brain, bone, and gut, and remaining elevated through embryonic day 18.5. RNase protection analysis of adult mouse tissues detected strong expression in brain, followed by moderate levels in uterus, ovary, testis, stomach, heart, skeletal muscle, and low levels in mammary gland, thymus, spleen, duodenum, and lung.
