Prostaglandin Reductase 1 (PTGR1)

PTGR1 isan enzyme that is involved in the inactivation of the chemotactic factor, leukotriene B4. The encoded protein specifically catalyzes the NADP+ dependent conversion of leukotriene B4 to 12-oxo-leukotriene B4. A pseudogene of this gene is found on chromosome 1. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

Leukotriene B(4) 12-hydroxydehydrogenase catalyzes the conversion of leukotriene B(4) into 12-oxo-leukotriene B(4), its less-active metabolite.The identity between the porcine and human sequences they obtained is 83.5% at the amino acid level and 84.7% at the nucleotide level. Both enzymes are highly homologous with a protein, AdRab-F, expressed only in adult rabbit small intestine
