Ras Like Family 11, Member A (RASL11A)

Ras Like Family 11, Member A (RASL11A)
RASL11A is a member of the small GTPase protein family with a high degree of similarity to RAS proteins. The deduced 242-amino acid RASL11A protein contains the conserved G domain found in all Ras-related GTPases. It shares 55% sequence similarity with the RAP2A protein and 68% similarity with an unannotated hypothetical protein that the authors designated RASL11B. The conserved residue thr35 (relative to HRAS) in the switch 1 region is replaced by asn in RASL11A and RASL11B. Both RASL11A and RASL11B lack a C-terminal prenylation signal. Northern blot analysis clearly detected 2 RASL11A transcripts of 1.6 and 1.2 kb in bladder, prostate, testis, and colon, and lower expression in thymus and leukocytes.
