Ras Protein Specific Guanine Nucleotide Releasing Factor 2 (RASGRF2)

GRF2; RAS-GRF2; Ras guanine nucleotide exchange factor 2

Ras Protein Specific Guanine Nucleotide Releasing Factor 2 (RASGRF2)
Sequence analysis predicted that the 1,237-amino acid protein, which is 90% identical to its mouse homolog, has an N-terminal pleckstrin homology (PH) domain, followed by an ilimaquinone (IQ) motif, a DH-PH domain, and a C-terminal RAS catalytic domain. Deletion and mutation analyses determined that only the DH domains are necessary for the RASGRF1-RASGRF2 interaction; interactions did not occur with other proteins containing DH domains.
Northern blot analysis revealed wide expression of RASGRF2 that was most abundant in brain, followed by heart and other tissues. Western blot analysis showed expression of homo- and heterooligomers in some parts of brain. RASGRF2 was also expressed in lung.
