Migration And Invasion Enhancer 1 (MIEN1)
The deduced 115-amino acid protein contains an immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif (ITAM), a C-terminal prenylation motif, and several phosphorylation sites. C35 also has a motif homologous to the catalytic site of selenoprotein W (SEPW1), but it lacks the selenocysteine residue. C35 homologs from 6 higher eukaryotes share more than 77% amino acid identity with human C35, but C35 orthologs are not present in microbial organisms. Western blot analysis detected a 12-kD C35 protein in breast carcinomas. Immunohistochemical analysis of 38 normal tissues detected C35 expression in Leydig cells of testis and weak expression in normal breast ductal epithelium. C35 showed intense punctate cytoplasmic staining in breast carcinoma specimens, suggesting vesicular localization.
