Ribonuclease A7 (RNASE7)
RNASE7 is a member of the RNase A superfamily that has broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and ribonuclease activity .Harder and Schroder showed that recombinant RNASE7 displayed catalytic activity against yeast tRNA. They found that RNASE7 exhibited broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against several gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, and against Candida albicans, as well as vancomycin-resistant E. faecium. RNASE7 expression was induced upon treatment with interferon gamma, interleukin-1-beta, and to a lesser extent by TNF-alpha. Zhang et al. also identified broad spectrum RNASE7 antimicrobial activity. However, they determined that RNASE7 did not display antiviral activity against respiratory syncytial virus infectivity for human epithelium cells using an in vitro assay. They confirmed that recombinant RNASE7 displayed catalytic activity against yeast tRNA.
