S100 Calcium Binding Protein A10 (S100A10)

S100-A10 is a protein of the S100 family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. S100 proteins are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a wide range of cells, and involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. This protein may function in exocytosis and endocytosis.

The p11 protein is linked with the transport of neurotransmitters. Found in the brain of humans and other mammals, it has been implicated in the regulation of mood. Low levels of p11 can be observed in the brain tissue of people diagnosed with depression and mice displaying depression-like symptoms.
