Solute Carrier Family 26, Member 7 (SLC26A7)

SUT2; Anion Exchange Transporter

Solute Carrier Family 26, Member 7 (SLC26A7)
SLC26A7 is one member of a family of sulfate/anion transporter genes. Family members are well conserved in their genomic and protein structures yet have markedly different tissue expression patterns. This gene has abundant and specific expression in the kidney. Splice variants that use both alternate transcription initiation and polyadenylation sites have been described for this gene.SLC26A7 is predicted to contain 12 transmembrane regions with internal N- and C-termini. The second potential extracellular domain contains 2 consensus N-glycosylation sites. SLC26A7 shares 30% identity with SLC26A2. Northern blot analysis detected abundant and specific expression of a 5.3-kb transcript in kidney. RT-PCR also detected abundant expression in tonsillar high endothelial venule cells.
