Uronyl-2-Sulfotransferase (UST)

2OST; DS2ST

Uronyl-2-Sulfotransferase (UST)
Uronyl 2-sulfotransferase transfers sulfate to the 2-position of uronyl residues, such as iduronyl residues in dermatan sulfate and glucuronyl residues in chondroitin sulfate .
The deduced 406-amino acid protein has a predicted molecular mass of 47.6 kD. UST contains 5 potential N-linked glycosylation sites, a central motif involved in PAPS binding, and has a predicted N-terminal transmembrane domain. UST shares approximately 30% amino acid identity with CHO Hs2st1. Northern blot analysis detected a major 5.1-kb and minor 2.0-kb transcript in human heart, brain, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, and pancreas, and in a number of cancer cell lines with highest expression in the Raji Burkitt lymphoma cell line.
