Z-DNA Binding Protein 1 (ZBP1)

DLM1; DAI; DNA-Dependent Activator Of IRFs; Tumor stroma and activated macrophage protein DLM-1

Z-DNA Binding Protein 1 (ZBP1)
  • Using fragments derived from these exons, EST database searching, and PCR analysis, they cloned human DLM1 cDNA. They also cloned a rat DLM1 cDNA. Human DLM1 encodes a deduced 429-amino acid protein with 47% and 46% sequence identity with the mouse and rat homologs, respectively. All 3 proteins contain 4 conserved regions, 2 of which are homologous to the Z-DNA binding domains Z-alpha and Z-beta of the RNA editing enzyme ADAR.

  • By RT-PCR of human tissues, Rothenburg et al. (2002) found prominent expression of DLM1 in the small intestine and lymphatic tissues, including lymph node, leukocytes and spleen; detectable expression in thymus, lung, liver, and pancreas; and no expression in brain and skeletal muscle.
