Zinc Finger MIZ Domain Containing Protein 2 (ZMIZ2)
ZMIZ2 colocalized with AR at DNA replication foci during S phase and colocalized to a diffuse nuclear staining during G1 phase, suggesting that ZMIZ2 may play a role in DNA synthesis and chromatin modification. The deduced 892-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of approximately 100 kD that was confirmed by in vitro translation. ZMIZ2 contains a nuclear localization signal (NLS), an MSX-interacting zinc finger (MIZ) domain, and a proline-rich region, and shares over 71% sequence similarity with ZMIZ1. Northern blot analysis of human tissues detected a 4.2-kb transcript with highest expression in testis, moderate expression in heart, brain, pancreas, skeletal muscle, prostate, and ovary, with little or no expression in other tissues tested. Immunofluorescence studies localized ZMIZ2 to the nucleus.
