Zinc Finger Protein 257 (ZNF257)

BMZF-4; Bone marrow zinc finger 4

Zinc Finger Protein 257 (ZNF257)
Using PCR primers based on conserved sequences of Kruppel-like genes to screen a bone marrow cDNA library, followed by database searching and 3-prime and 5-prime RACE, Han et al. (1999) isolated cDNAs encoding several zinc finger proteins, ZNF257.
The deduced 535-amino acid ZNF257 protein contains 4 tandemly repeated C-terminal zinc finger motifs with interspersed conserved knuckle sequences, as well as an N-terminal Kruppel-associated box (KRAB). In the hematopoietic system, RT-PCR analysis detected selective expression restricted to myelomonocytic cell lines.Using FISH, Han et al. (1999) mapped the ZNF257 gene to chromosome 19q13, where the ZNF253 and ZNF254 (604768) genes also map.
